Asus ZenWatch 3 Review

Asus has done a commendable job in refining its most recent Android Wear smartwatch. The Asus ZenWatch 3 is a top-notch product that is impossible not to fall in love with. ASUS, a veteran of the lucrative smartwatch market has not disappointed with this watch. The ZenWatch 3 is a more adult-looking gadget compared to its predecessor i.e. the ZenWatch 2.

Design

The ZenWatch 3 is manufactured in 3 different colors i.e. Gunmetal, Silver and Rose Gold. It has a circular display that is surrounded by a diamond cut bezel which is accented. It is designed with an ambient light sensor that functions to provide automatic brightness.

Body

The watch is encased inside a 316L stainless steel body that exudes a premium vibe.

Wrist strap

The attachment mechanism of the wrist strap is simple to use owing to its quick release pin. However, it is proprietary thus cannot be easily utilized with third party bands. The wrist strap is of high quality to provide both style and comfort. The wrist strap is made of genuine length that is gentle to the skin.

Buttons

The ZenWatch 3 has 3 side buttons. The bottom button is used to turn on airplane mode, the center one functions as a back button and the top one launches apps. All the 3 buttons have the much-desired premium feel and look.

Battery life

The ZenWatch 3 has a 340mAh battery incorporated to it. This is a large capacity that can potentially last for 2 days. However, it should be noted that this is a factor of use. The battery supports fast charging and can gain up to 60% charge inn just 15 minutes.

Display

It features a circular AMOLED display that is 1.39″, this is equal to a pixel density of about 287 pixels per square inch. The display has a resolution of 400 x 400, an impressive smartwatch resolution by far as it is bright and sharp. For protection, the display has Corning’s curved Gorilla Glass 3 2.5D that makes it resistant to scratches.

Water resistant and dust proof

Connectivity

It mainly utilizes Bluetooth 4.1 to connect to a phone. However, it has Wi-Fi for backup. The USB charge unit is in form a circular pad that conveniently and securely clips on the watch’s back through magnets.

UI

The home screen of the watch is just a watch face. To see and act on various cards, simply swipe up the screen.

Compatibility

It is compatible with iOS 8.2 (and higher) as well as Android 4.3 (and higher).

Manager app

This adds more than 50 watch faces that are exclusive.

ASUS ZenFit

This is an in-built app that accurately tracks sleep, workouts and steps.
